American society seems to revolve around African Americans these days. What exactly is the fascination with this alien group? perhaps for most white liberals its pity or in the case of the NYT its a battering ram against white America.
Yep. If blacks become anything at all they are incomparable experts of Whites, Whiteness, and White Culture, but mostly they are just experts on White people.
