Notum Bonum: The New York Times was having convulsions about "Rising Tide" as soon as it was published. A quick search of the Times' records reveals that Stoddard's book is mentioned in 285 articles, the most recent being an August, 2012 book review of some Indian author (i.e. Pankaj Mishra, whose work is reviewed in "New Book In Battle Over East Vs. West") who has the pugnacity to write about the Western dominance of the planet that was so obvious to people like Stoddard a century ago.

I don't know if this is the right place but as I am talking about something in the past I thought I should post here. I'm sure you remember how the NYT and other US newspapers and media reported about the Muhammad cartoons case. They were all for freedom of expression and free speech, the right to publish cartoons without having to go to jail etc. In Britain, which calls itself a "democracy" 2 men were imprisoned for distributing a comic book called TALES OF THE HOLOHOAX which mocked holocaust claims. The same media and politicians who support freedom of expression for the Muhammad cartoons supported their jailing. This is such a blatant example of double standards I had to bring it to your attention.
