Correlation does not equal causation. The fact that a group has a higher level of discipline referrals doesn't mean bias was the cause. If high school BOYS have a higher number of discipline referrals than high school GIRLS, is this bias too?

The NY Times is quite irresponsible for writing an articel like this. I find no other reason for this articler other than to stir up passions and anger for no good reason. Where is the other 90% of this study?
It's also a dangerous and regressive article in that it essentially tells young people that if you are a minority and you are disciplined, then you are likely a victim and someone else should be blamed for your actions and the resulting discipline.
I wouldn't completely write off trhese statistics as worthless but WOW, without more information these stats are quite misleading and paint about a incomplete picrture at best.
