The NYT Clears Up The Confusion Over the Wisconsin Protests

3/1/11 - Click to Enlarge
I have to admit that I wasn't really keeping up with what was going on in Wisconsin - though it has been all over the news - until I read a front page New York Times piece by Dan Barry entitled "Thank You For Your Support. Now, Can We Sweep the Capitol?" The Times took the side of the protesters - and the Unions - and therefore made it pretty clear pretty quick what was really going on.

Times communist Dan Barry, who used to be funny, tells the story of the blue-collar Madison Wisconsin capitol building janitors who are in the midst of that state's protest over plans to end collective bargaining rights and more free stuff from state government. The featured character in Barry's story - a 26 year-old janitor type named Aaron Pazour - does not belong to the Union, but Barry reminds us four times in the course of his article - FOUR TIMES - that Pazour would be in the union if he could.

An opinion puff piece on the front page masquerading as hard news. Thanks NYT for making it clear what is really going on in Wisconsin.

From the article :
"Myriad signs and banners covered nearly every inch of wall space — from rants against the Tea Party to reminders to finish one bag of bread before opening another one. But one sign caused more consternation than most: It said “Unisex,” and it kept appearing on the door of a women’s bathroom."
Not Unionized Despite the Times' Best Efforts
